The EMD GP40 is a four-axle diesel locomotive manufactured by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors from 1965 to 1971. Manufactured mainly for freight usage, the GP40 was a longer derivative of its predecessor the GP35 and can be distinguished by the three large radiator fans at the rear of its long hood.
